About

Jane

Jane is a two-time winner of the national title of ‘Outstanding Independent Practitioner’, from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. She has won the NW equivalent title on many more occasions and has over 35 years’ experience in PR and copywriting.

Jane’s love of marketing heritage attractions should come as no surprise, as she has an MA in History from Cambridge University and conducted further academic research into the Partition of India. PR-wise, her heritage and cultural marketing journey began with her handling of PR for British Gas’s sponsorship of the English National Opera’s very first tour of Russia. From there, it progressed to projects such as the launch of the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.

After founding Catapult PR, in 1998, it involved initiatives such as promoting leading garden and food festivals at stately homes and gardens – and scooping Gold PR Awards for these. Similarly, Jane has won numerous PR, content and travel marketing awards for a castle hotel in Northumberland, capitalising on its history and heritage to provide it with a phenomenal profile. She also founded the county day of Northumberland, Northumberland Day, back in 2015.

For seven years, she handled PR for the Cumbria’s Living Heritage cluster group. Most recently, in 2022 and 2023, she has scooped eight awards for Levens Hall and Gardens in Cumbria, for whom she conceived the fabulous initiative, World Topiary Day.
